Tend ("the app") is operated by Tech3N. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
What's stored on your device
Your streak, mood check-ins, journal entries, and onboarding answers are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server that stores this information, and we cannot access it. If you delete the app or use "Reset app data," this information is permanently deleted.
What's sent to third parties
- When you use the "Should I Text My Ex?" checker or ask for a journal reflection, the text you provide is sent to our AI provider (Google (Gemini API)) through our own relay server, solely to generate a response. With it go the answers you picked, your app language and a few non-identifying details from your setup, so the reply fits your situation: who ended the relationship, roughly how long ago it ended, your goals and your current no-contact day count. Tend never sends your first name, your ex's initial or anything else you typed during setup. This happens only after you allow it: the first time you use an AI feature, Tend asks for your consent and explains what is sent, how and to whom. If you don't allow it, nothing is sent and every other feature keeps working. You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile → AI companion. We do not store this text on our servers after the response is returned, unless you choose to save it to your journal (which then stays on your device, not ours).
- If you use voice journaling, your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service (Apple or Google), which may process the audio on their servers. Tend never stores the audio — only the text you choose to save.
- Subscription purchases are processed by Apple/Google and managed through RevenueCat, which receives your purchase/subscription status and which paywall views you see, to keep your access in sync and measure which offers work. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics, by Google), only if you allow it: which screens you open, which features you use and the mood you pick on Home (one of five, e.g. "okay"), with an app-instance identifier. It never includes your journal or checker text, or anything you type, and there is no advertising ID. Tend asks once on Home; you can turn it off anytime in Profile → Share anonymous usage data.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): when the app crashes, crash and device information only (for example the app version, device model and where the code failed), so we can fix bugs. Never your entries.
What we don't do
We do not sell your data. There are no ads in Tend, no advertising ID and no cross-app tracking. We do not have user accounts, so we have no way to identify you personally beyond what's on your own device.
Children
Tend is not intended for users under 18.
Not a medical or crisis service
Tend is a self-reflection tool, not therapy, medical advice, or a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. The app links to third-party helpline directories (e.g. findahelpline.com) but is not affiliated with and does not operate them.
Your choices
You can export your journal data at any time (Settings → Export my data) or delete all local data (Settings → Reset app data).
